Reptile & Venomous Snake Handling & Relocation Course

Hands on Wildlife offers and intensive, one day reptile handling and relocation course to industry based customers and the general public. Safety is our main priority, and we teach safe, zero-contact handling methods, and we supply all handling equipment and safety gear.

The course is designed for people who are interested in gaining experience in reptile handling (including venomous snakes) so that they may legally relocate reptiles or qualify to keep venomous snakes in a private collection.

  • Snake identification, behaviour, and safety
  • Venom and envenomation
  • Snake bite first aid techniques
  • Snake handling techniques (hooks, tongs, entanglements)
  • Other reptle handling techniques (lizards, including large monitor lizards)
  • Habitat and release site identification
  • Recognising and managing sick and injured reptiles
  • Can be used as part of a Damage Mitigation Permit application to legally relocate snakes in Queensland

The Department of Environment and Heritage Protection has assessed and approved our course content.

The certificate of completion from our course can be used by participants as part of their Damage Mitigation Permit (DMP) so that they can legally relocate snakes in Queensland.

Expert Instruction

Dan Bamblett has over 20 years of professional experience working with snakes. A qualified fauna spotter catcher and damage mitigation permit holder, he has experience with both captive snakes in confined spaces and wild snakes in disturbed habitat.

Instructing courses for the past 8 years, Dan ensures that everyone participating in the course is safe and comfortable.
